Christmas, 2008

Christmas 2008

Unfold the seasonal petals
of your snow-dusted bursting bloom!

Reveal to the clamoring
hungering world
my warmly fleshly
glory-bright birth!

Then ah—listen!
Soon follows
the clear benediction
of a cold bell chiming.

Hodie! Venite adoremus,
Christus natus est!

(with thanks to Gwendolyn Brooks who wrote, "Conduct your blooming in the noise and whip of the whirlwind.")

Hello. Your poem reminded me what I was saying to the plants as I bedded down the garden before snow and cold engulfed my place of tranquility. Very nice blog and I like your writings.
